A leitmotif is a musical term referring to a ‘short, constantly recurring musical phrase’, associated with a particular person, place, or idea. ie  “a guiding motif.”

A musical motif has been defined as a ‘short musical idea…melodic, harmonic, or rhythmic, or all three, a salient recurring figure, musical fragment or succession of notes that has some special importance in or is characteristic of a composition: “the smallest structural unit possessing thematic identity.”

Although usually a short melody, it can also be a chord progression or even a simple rhythm. Leitmotifs can help to bind a work together into a coherent whole, and also enable the composer to relate a story without the use of words, or to add an extra level to an already present story.

The ” Leitmotif ” for the exciting Paola Lenti 2013 Collection is once again ”  COLOUR ” – something which Paola is able to clearly interpret differently each year.

Paola plays with “the Key of Light“, blends different hues and shades to amaze the thousands of Salone visitors yet again.

Presenting again within the serene environs of the beautiful old Chiostri dell’Umanitaria Monastery – Paola’s new collection is playful, joyful, full of soft and welcoming shapes, classic and simple, studied and expressed in the smallest details.

The new products are further confirmation of established creative relationships with people who share Paola Lenti’s passion for quality: Francesco Rota, Bestetti Associati, m-ar (Renato Morganti), Davide Groppi, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Victor Carrasco.

Utilising Paola Lenti’s “In the Key of Colour” system, proposals for seating and realaxing can be executed in dozens of different suites: an enhanced choice among matching and contrasting colour shades which endlessly multiply the expressive possibilities of Paola Lenti products for both interior and exterior environments.

Materials

Paola Lenti’s project is based on the study of yarns, their quality and performance, on material experimentation and the valorization of the characteristics that make them unique, on an innate attention to colours.materiali-3.jpgmateriali-4.jpgfilosofia-01nuova.jpg

The rugs and seating collections, both for interior and exterior environments, stand out for the materials and upholstery fabrics, conceived by Paola Lenti and produced exclusively for the Company.

Each fabric originates from the best natural or synthetic yarns, to guarantee functionality and aesthetics.

Rope and Aquatech yarns, the result of the Company’s continuous research and experimentation, allow for the creation of a range of solutions for the exteriors which are enduring and resistant to the atmospheric agents, sun rays, sea and swimming pool water.

The fabrics for interior environments, such as felts of unique quality and performance or wools and cottons proposed in coordinated colours, offer infinite chromatic combinations.

The woods and the stones used for the structures and the tops suited for outdoor use are the result of an attentive selection which is coherent with the Company’s product philosophy.

The metals, selected for their high performances, are treated to further improve their endurance.

Research

The company continues commercially developing its significant Research work into materials, dyes, yarns, textures and new technologies.

Paola Lenti approaches each product design as an interpretation of materials and textiles.

The designers who collaborate with Paola Lenti share this vision giving life to quality, coherent products.

Through experimentation, technical knowledge merges with curiosity to create fibres and yarns that allow the Company to go beyond traditional barriers between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Through this research Paola Lenti has developed signature materials that are the key to the creation of the contemporary yet timeless forms.

With such approach, the Company has changed the nature of rugs, allowing for such delicate and precious items to go outdoors; the same curiosity and knowledge are turned to natural fibres: through a balanced mix of instinct, creativity and rationality, Paola Lenti has transformed existing materials to offer better quality and higher performances.

Materials and forms are both the result of the Company’s philosophy, which aims to offer essential, contemporary, timeless products.

For interior environments, the collections introduce vibrant colours and melange textures in new fabrics and lacquering.

For the exterior they offer an unprecedented chromatic proposal,

About Paola Lenti

Since 1994 Paola Lenti has followed a coherent and dynamic entrepreneurial strategy based on research and experimentation which has led the Company to establish itself as an international reference in the world of design.filosofia-02.jpgfilosofia-04.jpgnuova-12.2011-1.jpg

Turning the pages of a Paola Lenti catalogue is like discovering balanced and essential new design landscapes where opposites become complementary: past and present, interior and exterior, tradition and technology.

In this approach one can find a serene coexistence of seemingly diverse influences: where metal and wood structures are designed to be durable; where modern and comfortable interiors seating live side by side with the newest solutions for exteriors; where elegant hand-crocheted floral rugs are created with high-tech yarns.

Each design attributes its originality to the selection and creation of the material and to the simplicity of its forms.

The pieces are created to be timeless in terms of quality, functionality, colour and aesthetics.

( watch for 2 x further postings on this event at the Salone…. the Paola Lenti exhibition needs to be broken down into smaller focussed stories .. to give it an appropriate sense of occassion – stay tuned over the next 2 days as we cover the interiors in Pt 2 and the exterior passageways and courtyards in Pt 3 )
