More than 1,000 people – mostly designers, heads of design companies, and the directors of the 25 Elle Decor Magazine mastheads worldwide – were present at the award ceremony of evocative EDIDA 2013 at the Teatro Manzoni, on the occassion of the Milan Design Week 2013.

Red carpet and photocalls for all celebrities were obligatory
During the awards, ceremony conducted by Paola Maugeri and Livia Peraldo Matton, editor of Elle Decor Italy, some huge white balloons flew around the audience to symbolize the International Prize (a globe of plexiglass) delivered to all designers.

All the Award winners are listed below – but the key award of the evening was presented to “Designer of the Year” – Ron Gilad
Ron Gilad, Furniture category winner
Ron Gilad uses the word play repeatedly when he describes his approach to design. Gilad plays with angles. He plays with cubes. He plays with degrees.
He especially likes to toy with perception, creating objects that seem to defy logic and utility, yet solve problems that we may never have known we had.
Other notable awards went to the”Eemerging Young designer(s) of the Year” – GamFratesi = Stine Gam and Enrico Pratesi.
In addition, Patricia Urquiola accepted the “Outdoor Award” for her project for Kettal – “OUTDOOR COTTAGE”

One of the highlights of the evening was the acceptance speech made by Oki Sato ( Nendo ) who surprised many people when he spoke in perfect Italian. He has certainly lifted his already strng reputation in Italy even further
The evening was also an opportunity to discover in preview the new Edida International App: a journey through 11 editions of the premio EDIDA that tells the best of international design from 2003 to date.
The App includes all the winners (products, companies, designers), exclusive photo gallery, videos, interviews with designers and some unpublished contributions by EDIDA party
