One of the fathers of Italian Rationalism – Franco Albini’s original studio ( in the last years of his career) now a museum and historical archive, was opened to Salone visitors.
In the beautiful Palazzo in via Telesio, pieces of design icons – represented excellent examples of Albini’s quest for lightness and the process of subtraction, forming the common feature of his work.
With all the excitement for Knoll happening at both their significant return to the Salone Fairgrounds, combined with the presence of Rem Koolhaas to launch the “Knoll Tools for Life” collection at the Prada Space – it was little wonder that this year, Knoll’s permanent Mlan showroom at Piazza Bertarelli received virtually no press coverage.
To mark its 75th anniversary, Knoll’s eagerly anticipated return to the Salone was an ethereal and innovative presentation of their new and iconic residential and workplace designs.
