Design Report Award Winners @ Milan Design Week 2011

As the international furniture fair in Milan celebrated its 50th Anniversary, the 12th annual Design Report Award was presented to Studio juju from Singapore

Design Report has been giving Young Talents a helping hand by presenting the Design Report Award for the best newcomer contribution at the Salone Satellite in Milan. The International Newcomer forum, founded in 1998 by journalist Marva Griffin, is widely regarded as the most important stage there is for newcomers in the furniture sector and thus provides an ideal setting for Design Report to discover and promote young design.

In honour of the Fair’s 50th Salone Anniversary the winner of this year’s Design Report Award, selected on-site by an international jury, received an increased prize money of 7,500 euros.

Studio Juju convinced with their reduced, well-balanced design which is restful in shape and through its harmonic unison of smooth form and colour is easy to the touch.

Established in 2009 by Timo Wong and Priscilla Lui, Studio Juju is a design partnership based in Singapore.

They began thier partnership on various projects at the Design Incubation Centre, National University of Singapore.

They collaborated on d.lab “Objects around the Tablescape” under the direction of Patrick Chia, the Director of Design Incubation Centre, NUS.

The studio possesses keen interest in applying design methods and sensibilities in products, spaces, and art direction. Through extra sensitivity to human interactions. studio juju develops pleasant experiences in every project, delighting in details from design semantics to functional innovations. The studio’s process is thus characterized by a hands-on approach with prototype-making, focused on detailed attention to appropriateness in function, form, colors and materials.
