Knoll has once again collaborated with architect Rem Koolhaas and OMA, and “Inside Outside” founder Petra Blaisse, to design its showroom display at the Piazza Bertarelli.
This year in Milan. Knoll celebrates the centennial of the birth of Harry Bertoia ( 1915 – 1978 ) with a true in-depth exploration of this eclectic designer—through all his art forms, from sculptures to jewellery and from monoprints to the master’s celebrated Knoll Bertoia furniture collection
Trends in lighting are pointing towards multi-sensory solutions that are very intimate. The idea is to think about light as something that is tailor-made, customisable and special to different people in different ways.
This is why I am thinking about providing solutions without having any structural limits such as wiring and power
Wallpaper* invited the American Hardwood Export Council, architects Kolman Boye and furniture-makers Benchmark to create a towering structure of food plates as part of the Wallpaper* Handmade 2015 exhibition.
The brief was to design a candy-store concept for handing out free savoury biscuits from local bistro T’a Milano.
It’s huge at over 3.7m in diameter and the same in height, more a structure, than a piece of furniture. As architect Victor Boye Julebäk said “Something really strong was needed for the huge venue… but maybe we went a little over the top!”
Jennifer Wen Ma presents a spectacular smoke projection, beaming an animated image of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, a popular and irreverent figure in Chinese mythology, onto a cloud of smoke in the sky. The movement of the smoke is choreographed by the graceful movements of a trained performer, and the Monkey King dances overhead in a playful fusion of tradition and technology.
