Knoll Textiles @ Neocon Chicago 2018

Marking the 10-year anniversary of Knoll Luxe – Knoll Textiles released the following innovative and striking collections –

The Atmosphere wallpaper collection, a collaboration with Trove, is a study of how intrinsic forces in nature shape patterns rendered in large-scale gestural movements on high performance Thermoplastic Olefin wall covering.

The Interwine collection by Dorothy Cosonas, explores patterns, structure and geometry both on and off the grid with upholstery and drapery products.

Selections from each collection are incorporated into a larger than life display of flowers, plants and creatures made exclusively with Knoll Textiles products.

Atmosphere Wallpapers Collection by Trove

The Atmosphere Collection, a collaboration with Trove, is a study of how intrinsic forces in nature shape patterns rendered in large-scale gestural movements on high performance Thermoplastic Olefin wall covering.

The Atmosphere Collection is KnollTextiles’ second collaboration with NYC design firm Trove.

Trove partners Jee Levin and Randall Buck merge art, design and craft favoring a process of experimentation and spontaneity.

Their wallcovering designs push the limits of scale and repeat while emphasizing depth and perspective

Atmosphere is an exploration of how intrinsic forces in nature shape patterns.

For the Atmosphere Collection, the designers painted specifically with watercolor. This medium best displays the brilliance of color when one hue blends into another.

The collection is a meditation of color; how complementing or contrasting hues can create balance or provide a focal point. A range of cool and warm tones offer both intensity and serenity.

Printing on Thermoplastic Olefin allows for the look, feel and performance of commercial vinyl with a reduced environmental impact.

It features the appearance of a linen textile while retaining durability against commercial cleaning products including bleach solutions.

The collection is printed with water-based UV ink, the most sustainable printing processes available.

The three designs in the collection – Cascade, Meander and Surround – were inspired by natural elements (a waterfall, a wall of bamboo and river stones), and executed in large, gestural patterns.

Cascade

cascade

Paint appears to feather out in undulating waves from in Cascade.

Meander

Color is diffused through soft, organic patterning that migrates from the vertical movements in Meander.

Surround

surround

Surround radiates jewel tones from a circular motif that reads as an allover large-scale pattern.

The momentum of each design is driven by the interplay of color.

Surround and Cascade have 50” horizontal x 60” vertical repeats making yardage calculations simple.

Meander was designed for random matching with a 120” vertical repeat specifically to reduce waste.

Cascade & Surround (50” h, 60” v), Meander (51” h, 120” v)

Intertwine by Dorothy Cosonas

The Interwine Collection by Dorothy Cosonas, explores patterns, structure and geometry both on and off the grid with upholstery and drapery products.

A 1960s fashion fabric served as the jumping off point for the Intertwine Collection.

The vibrant, multi-colored textile sparked an exploration of pattern, structure and geometry both on and off the grid.

Knoll’s design team visually deconstructed the vintage swatch extracting individual elements that became the genesis for 5 upholsteries.

The number and placement of color throughout the pattern is exceptional.

Each colorway has an exceedingly rare 26 perfectly balanced yarn colors.

Intended for random match, it can be read as plaid or allover pattern.

Plaidtastic is bleach cleanable, stain resistant and 100,000 Double Rubs.

Contents: 100% PCR Polyester
Width: 53”
Repeat: 27” h, 55.75” v
