This isn’t Style Week; it’s Design Week.
Since 1973, the Biennale of Sydney exhibitions have presented the work of 1355 artists from 82 countries.
Most of these artists were also brought to Sydney by the Biennale, which often facilitated their travel and coordinated their professional engagements in a national outreach program to art schools and universities across Australia.
For over 30 years, Australian artist Robert MacPherson has amassed a prodigious output that ranges from his abstract works of the mid-1970s, made in black and white with a common housepainter’s brush, to his text-based paintings of the 1980s and 1990s that consecrate the roadside vernacular of shop signs, placards and slang xpressions.
Louise Bourgeois, the French-born American artist who gained fame only late in a long career, when her psychologically charged abstract sculptures, drawings and prints had a galvanizing effect on younger artists, particularly women, died on Monday May 31st, 2009 at the Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan.
The joined presence of Boffi, De Padova and MA / U Studio – both at the fair and in the two Milanese showrooms of De Padova and Boffi Solferino – showcased their combined product novelties through beautifully crafted presentations directed under Piero Lissoni’s creative eye
