SaloneSatellite cast the spotlight on Africa and Latin America – two vast powerhouses of creativity and design, whose names conjure up geographies resonating with memories of ancient and noble civilisations.
Increasingly these days, however, they encapsulate the many distinctive singularities contained within their interiors.
The SaloneSatellite Award – now into its 9th edition – marked a further step towards facilitating the interface between demand and supply, between business people and designers and between creativity and production.
The Entry selection process is, as always, extremely competitive, in order to uphold Salone Satellite’s excellent reputation, as it “crowns” promising young designers destined for the market and the design star system.

Salone Satellite is twenty years old and still today, after so many results and major recognitions (including the 2014 Lifetime Golden Compass Award), it continues to be the place where the ideas of many hundreds of young designers find a foothold
Where they can meet the critics, the manufacturers and the design market, in the knowledge that they are part of the event that has put their work, made of dreams and visions, experiments and struggles, and so much more, at the very heart of what it does.

The German Design Council announced the winners of the 16th Design Report Award, which took place at the Salone Satellite in Milan on 16th April, 2015.
The Design Report Award is presented to individual designers or teams whose work is not only based on an outstanding concept but which has also been properly produced and presented in a compelling way.
Awarded the Compasso d’Oro for career achievement last June, the SaloneSatellite returned to the Salone Milan Fairgrounds, Rho with 700 designer, 18 international schools, 4 installations and numerous appointments on the theme of design.
Conceived and devotedly run by Marva Griffin, who for 18 years has been enthusiastically following her ragazzi, as she affectionately calls them, the Salone Satellite Award continues to be a reference point for designers under 35 who are looking for the kind of visibility that only the largest design event in the world can guarantee.
