It was the last of a series of repeated series of series including Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Mona Lisa, the painting focuses on the image of an architecturally framed space – the dining room – rather than on a single iconic figure.

The presentation anticipates the 2019 project called “Milan and the Legacy of Leonardo 1519-2019,” which will celebrate 500 years since da Vinci’s death.

From 15 April to July 19, 2015, Palazzo Reale, Milan is presenting the largest exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci ever held in Italy,

Entitled “Leonardo 1452-1519”, the exhibition, explores the central themes of the multi-faceted work of Leonardo: the drawings; the reflection on the arts and on the antiquity; the great innovation of the “motions of the mind”; the focus on utopian projects and the mechanical automation.

It includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and manuscripts, brought together from the finest museums in the world, amongst which the British Museum in London, the Uffizi in Florence, and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
