For the third year in a raw, Seletti, the Italian design brand, in collaboration with the Paridevitale agency, invaded the 5VIE district with its fun and original spirit, promoting the most Pop party of the Design Week.

With more than 3.000 people joining in, the street parade criss-crossed the City and everyone was invited to celebrate creativity and design by joining the alternative parade of floats, music, dancing and performances.

On a quiet Darlinghurst street last week, hundreds of young, mostly male Sneakerheads ( many still in their school uniforms having ducked away early from school ) patiently lined up for some 4-6 hours ( even as some light rain fell ) to meet their idol, Virgil Abloh, the introverted Chicago native.

Some of them had even journeyed to Sydney from inter-state to the official Supply ” Pop Up” Store installation space – thus inadvertently becoming the personification of Nike’s most fundamental principle: ‘Just Do It’.

All those in line were in high spirits, hoping to have their Abloh x Off-White iterations of the Nike “Top Ten” kicks autographed by Virgil

Os Gemeos worked on the first artwork intervention ” Efêmero ” ( ephemeral ) covering a total area of a thousand square meters, in the first “Outside the Cube” arts program at Pirelli’s HangarBicocca

Drawing inspiration from the shape and history of the Pirelli HangarBicocca building, where train locomotives were built during the twentieth century, as well as from the close proximity of railway lines running parallel to the site, Efêmero recreates the silhouette of a city train on a monumental scale

Visionary Crazy Golf @ London Design Festival 2016

The London Design Festival launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Visionary Crazy Golf to London’s Trafalgar Square.

Holes have been designed by nine of the world’s most renowned and inventive architects, artists and designers.

The aim is to raise £120,000 through a 6-week campaign, and the course will be open from 16-22 September, coinciding with the Festival itself.

Alcantara Magic Hotel @ Salone Milan 2016

Newly inaugurated, the Alcantara Magic Hotel is a project by Gentucca Bini who covered a building under renovation, along the famous Milan pedestrian road

Using 200 square metres of soft Alcantara, she reproduced the façade of a real hotel where 2D elements join three-dimensional ones, such as the central balcony and some window shutters, thus producing a highly realistic effect.

THE RESTAURANT is a series of 4 extraordinary Caeserstone kitchens and dining halls designed by Tom Dixon, arrayed in a cruciform setting within the beautiful Baroque splendour of the Rotonda Della Besana

The four basic elements of Air, Water, Earth and Fire give each kitchen and dining hall a clear aesthetic, materiality and cooking method.

Throughout the week visitors will be encouraged to sit down, slow down and re-calibrate.

MADA Students Fashionable Building Art

Students from Monash University Art, Design and Architecture have transformed a selection of ten iconic Melbourne buildings into wearable art

Working in collaboration with the architects as well as artist Callum Morton, fashion designer Miriam Borcherdt and architect Cate Hall, the designs dissect the buildings’ language into human scale, exploring the way the tectonics react to human movement.
